Florida, Day 2

Unsurprisingly, this was a great day. After starting off with a relaxing session on the porch, went to the Kingdom Hall for the Sunday Meeting. The Anclote congregation had their CO for the week, and today was the last day, of course. That was a nice bonus for us!

They have a really interesting Kingdom Hall design. There is really nice glasswork in the hall. It's something that isn't seen much anymore. The congregation was so friendly. I always feel that you can tell how close a congregation is by how loud it gets before and after a meeting. The Anclote congregation gets plenty loud. We definitely felt welcomed.
After the meeting we went to the Sponge Docks!!! It is literally what it sounds like. The area is known for harvesting sea sponges. I don't think I've ever held an actual sea sponge. It's just a sponge. I think Meg thought I was a little dumb. (It really is just a sponge... ☺)There is also a lot of homemade Olive Oil and Goat's Milk soap in this area. (There were a ton of soaps that smelled so good! And they made neat soap with sponges and loofahs right in them!) I can't wait to use them! haha.

The area is right on the water, like a seaport. (Such a cute town. It was pretty hot while we were there and the water kinda smelled real nasty. It's definitely a tourist area, but I liked the soap shops a lot. Each Greek restaurant seemed amazing. So authentic. There's lots of walking to do, and stores to shop in. There is also a lot of Greek influence. Tons of Greek restaurants! We went to the Parthenon, and we had awesome food. Meg and I got Gyros, but we also ordered Saganaki. ( We need to talk a little more about the food.. The gyros were fantastic. But saganaki?! Please. You would imagine that flaming cheese is good, this is even better then good and so cool! They pour something over already delicious cheese and opa! They light it on fire. Melting the cheese to ooey gooey goodness. It's like the inside of the perfect mozzarella stick. Go find a Greek restaurant and order it now!) So good...
    Meg's "Saganaki Face"                                           OPA!

No visit to the Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks is complete without a tour through the Sponge Docks Museum! You can learn the history of the sponge, what sponges grow in Tarpon Springs as well as what sponges are used for today! There's even a great theater made out of a TV, a VHS and splintery benches. It plays an infomercial on buying a ticket for a sponge boat!!!! My only regret is not filming this experience. (This place was slightly terrifying... I was to afraid to actually learn anything about sponge history.. We later found that this is not a place locals tend to go..)

Needless to say, after such an overwhelming experience, we needed  a calm night. So our day ended with pizza, amaretto sours, and Star Wars 7. A wonderful ending to a wonderful day.
    See you tomorrow!

    1. It was at the scary sponge museum! It's outside though, so you don't have to risk your life to find it.
